| I bought this camera as a gift for my son for Christmas and he loved it. The camera is durable for those kids who are rough on their toys - the sides are padded. The camera is also very easy for little ones to use. I like the places for a kid to put his/her eyes when looking at the item being photograph. Fisher Price made it easy for kids to focus the camera because a kid can use both eyes and not just one or not just the screen. The screen on this camera is for viewing a taken picture. Looking at pictures and deleting pictures is easy for a kid to do. I enjoyed the camera so much that I'm going to buy one for my niece for her birthday. |
My four year old was disappointed

| My four year old son received this toy for Christmas. His six year old sister received a "real" digital camera. He had seen the pictures of this toy and said that was what he wanted, but when he saw how small and blurry the little window was and how large and clear his sisters was he immediately wanted hers. We took this back the next day and got him a low priced "real" camera for not much more than this camera costs. I'm sure this camera is more durable, but for a child who has another camera to compare to this one will not be impressive. Also, the picture quality was extremely poor. This toy may be durable, but it wasn't fun. |
Get the kidizoom instead!

After reading all the reviews, I chose to get my two year old (she's a very old two) the Kidizoom for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we discovered it was defective and I quickly ran to Toys R Us to get a replacement. All they had was this Fisher Price one, so we got that instead.
This week, I found the Kidizoom for an amazing price and got that one as a 'backup' camera, so I've been able to compare the two.
First of all, the "pictures" that this one takes are laughable. My cell phone takes better pictures by far. The flash is completely spastic, and you can't control when it goes off or doesn't.
When I first imported the photos, I was shocked. I'd heard the pics weren't great, but seriously? They barely register as images.
Also, the button to take pictures is in a really hard place to reach.
The only thing I can say is that it's very sturdy - so if your child is going to hurl the camera around or something ... well, maybe just don't get them a camera at all!
The Kidizoom takes clear shots and you can change all sorts of settings. |

My kid loves this camera.
Easy to use. Looks and feels durable.
Downside: Batteries run out quickly; Not very good resolution.
I had a choice between a "toy" camera and a "real" camera. I went for this and I think within the "toy category I made the right choice. However probably my 4 year old was ready for a "real" camera. |
My son loves it, but the picture quality isn't great.

My son has so much fun with this easy to use camera. He is almost 4 years old and quickly learned how to take pictures, then view them. He LOVES it! Also, the camera has an automatic shut-off i he leaves it on, which is very helpful. He also likes the sounds it makes when turning on/off and switching modes.
I am not impressed with the quality of the images it produces, but printing these pictures is not really what excites my son. He just likes to have them on the camera to look through. |
